| Our Security Policy
With our travel insurance policies, we've been helping people feel secure for over 15 years, and this page is
here to help you feel safe transacting over the internet with us.
We utilise a secure server encryption method as security for all credit or debit card details and customer information.
What is the difference between a normal and secure webpage?
A secure webpage may look the same, but it is very different to a normal webpage. Any information passed between us is
done so safely and securely. The information sent from normal webpages can be intercepted by malicious users and criminals,
secure pages cannot.
You will know you are on a secure webpage because the padlock will be shown in the 'locked' closed position* (on Microsoft's
Internet Explorer browser you'll see it at the bottom of the window, and on Netscape Navigator on the top toolbar and/or
there's a key symbol at the bottom of the window). We like to help you feel secure whilst you're with us, so you'll also
notice that under the Columbus picture on the side menu there's an indicator marked "Secure Area" - when it
is red, it means you are safely in our secure area (this happens automatically as soon as you begin a quote, renew a policy,
or do anything that would involve sending us some personal information).
What level of encryption do we use?
We will be using a type of encryption known as SSL (secure socket layer). This is one of the most advanced encrypting
technologies available, so you can be sure any information sent to us via our website is encrypted into an unbreakable
code before it is sent. SSL encryption gives you the confidence that no third party can decipher your personal information.
All this adds up to one of the safest ways to transact.
What happens when the information reaches you?
We store all credit card and personal details on a very secure computer. Remember that our online system links
directly to our London offices, so if for any reason you are unsure at all you can call us (on the number shown in the
blue bar at the bottom of the screen) and one of our highly-trained staff will be able to help you instantly. Alternatively,
to send us an email just click on the 'email us' button on the side menu.
Still, I would feel safer talking to someone on the telephone, what can I do?
No problem at all, we have highly-trained staff here to help you, whether you just want a quote, to buy a policy, or have a question about our different types of
policies or levels of cover. Just call us on the number shown below, or email us
