The Meaning |

| Accident |
A sudden, unexpected, unusual, specific, violent, external event which results in a Loss. |
| Adult |
A person aged 18 or over. |
| Assistance Services |
The assistance service will confirm whether your treatment or expenses are covered under the terms of your policy and can liaise directly with hospitals regarding your medical requirements and payment of bills. Should you require specialist travel arrangements, the assistance service can make appropriate arrangements, based on medical necessity. |
| Benefits |
The amount payable in respect of a covered claim. |
| Cancellation |
Cancellation of the Trip resulting from an unforeseen occurrence. |
| Child |
A person aged 17 or under. |
| Claims Handler |
The loss adjusters named on the policy certificate. |
| Close Business Associate |
A person working for the same company and as the Insured |
| Couple |
A couple who are legally married, common-law partners or cohabiting. All
limits and excesses are per person irrespective of one or both travelling on
the same trip. |
| Curtailment |
To cut short the Trip by returning Home earlier than the planned date of return. |
| Date of Issue |
Date shown on the quote or policy certificate as to when it was issued. |
| Excess |
The part of each and every claim which is the responsibility of the Insured. |
| Family |
A family is considered to be a legally married couple, a common law husband and wife, a single parent or adult couple who have cohabited for at least one year and up to 4 children aged under 18 (or up to 22 if in full time education). |
| General Exclusion |
Something which is not covered by the insurance and relates to every section of the Policy. |
| Hijack |
The Insured being detained against their will by Hijack on an aircraft or conveyance in which you are travelling as a passenger. |
| Home |
Your residential address in your country of residence. |
| Hospital Sundries |
should be Hospital Benefit |
| Insured |
Persons shown on the quote or policy certificate. |
| Legal Expenses |
Costs incurred by the Insured in pursuit of legal proceedings against third parties. |
| Level of Cover |
The amount up to which the Insured is covered under any particular Section of the Policy. |
| Loss (in Section 3) |
Death, Loss of One or More Limbs or Both Eyes or Permanent Disability. |
| Loss of Both Eyes |
The complete and irrecoverable loss of sight of both eyes. |
| Loss of Passport |
Costs for an emergency passport and reasonable travel or accommodation expenses necessarily incurred to replace the Insured’s lost or stolen passport. |
| Loss of One or More Limbs |
Loss by physical severance of a hand at or above the wrist or a foot at or above the ankle. |
| Medical Assistance Company |
The assistance company named on the policy Certificate. |
| Missed Departure |
Arriving too late to commence your booked trip from or to your country of residence. |
| Money and Documents |
Any legal currency, travel tickets, passports and driving licence held by you for social, domestic and/or pleasure purposes. |
| Period of Insurance |
The time and date in which the insurance is effective. |
| Permanent Disability |
Permanent total disablement which prevents you from attending to any business or occupation in any capacity for a period of 12 months and which will not improve. |
| Personal Accident |
Death or permanent disability. |
| Baggage and Property |
Personal property taken or purchased on the Trip by the Insured. |
| Personal Liability |
Legal liability for accidental injury to a third party and/or accidental damage to their property. |
| Piste Closure |
Where skiing is prohibited for a period in excess of 24 hours. |
| Immediate Relative |
Mother, father, sister, brother, wife, husband, fiancé(e), common-law partner, civil law partner, co-habiting partner (same or different sex), daughter, son, grandparent, grandchild, parent-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, step-parent, step-child, step-brother, step-sister or legal guardian. |
| Repatriation (in Section 4) |
Returning Home as a result of accidental injury or illness. |
| Ski Equipment |
Skis, ski sticks, ski bindings, ski boots, snow boards. |
| Ski Hire |
Ski equipment hired due to loss, damage or delay of the Insureds ski equipment. |
| Ski Pack |
Unused ski pass, ski hire or tuition fees resulting from accidental injury, sickness or loss/theft of
ski pass. |
| Specific Exclusions |
Something which is not covered by the insurance and relates only to a particular section of the Policy
. |
| Territorial Limits |
Geographical areas or countries shown on the quote or policy certificate. |
| Travel Delay |
The delay of the outward or return journey to or from your country of residence |
| Traveling
Companion |
The person whom the Insured has booked to travel with. |
| Trip |
Period of travel. |
| Unforeseen Occurrences |
Unexpected happenings (as listed in Policy Terms and Conditions)
which lead to the cancellation or curtailment of a Trip. |
| Valuables |
Jewellery, watches, cameras, photographic apparatus, binoculars, video equipment and any audio or audiovisual equipment including (but not limited to): tape recorders, cassettes and players, radios, compact discs and players, minidiscs and players, portable media players, video games and TV sets. |
